Getting Started
To connect to the campus network, browse the Internet, use e-mail and access other on-line resources, you must first open an IT account (Administrative or Research). Open New Account forms are available on the IT Web site and from the Help Desk. You can request a form by contacting the IT Administrative Office at (212) 327-8925. Information from these forms is used to set up your user ID, e-mail address and temporary password. For rate information, click here.

Opening an Account
To open an account for yourself, fill out and submit an Open New Account form along with a copy of your university ID card to the IT main office. To open an account for a lab/department member who does not yet have a Rockefeller ID, an authorized signature is required. Forms can be returned:
- in person: IT Pavilion
- by fax: (212) 327-8712
Getting on the Network
Connectivity to the campus wired network requires activation of a network jack and to have your computer's network setting set to obtain an IP automatically; click here for instructions. Jacks by default are not automatically activated. To activate or check to see if a network jack is active in your lab or office or to have new network connections/wiring installed, contact the Help Desk at x8940 with:
- your jack number (indicated on the face plate of the jack).
- your building and room number where jack is (or will be) located.

Services
IT consists of ten support groups that provide a wide array of core and custom services to the campus. Core services and resources are considered essential for conducting university business, and IT monitors their performance and availability daily. Changes in network systems status are posted on the IT home page. Please note that the information displayed is usually updated during normal operating hours only. Services include:
Getting Support
For technical support, computing questions, or questions about network access charges or services being performed, contact the Help Desk at x8940, via email at helpdesk@mail.rockefeller.edu, or in person in the IT Pavilion. Service requests may also be submitted using the on-line Service Request form. To expedite service, please provide the following information when submitting a request:
- name and version of your operating system (e.g., Windows XP, Mac OS X)
- name and version of the application you are using (e.g., Excel 2003)
- detailed description of your issue.
- the wording of any error message you may have received
- room/building location (and jack number for networking issues)

For account billing inquires and general customer service questions, contact the Administrative Office at x8925 or via e-mail at it_office@mail.rockefeller.edu. To expedite service, please have your statement or account number available.
