    The recall only applies to certain models.

Acer Notebook Computers Recalled

    In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, Acer has announced the voluntary recall of certain notebook (laptop) computers due to burn hazard.

    The recall only applies to certain computer models:

    • AS3410
    • AS3410T
    • AS3810T
    • AS3810TG
    • AS3810TZ
    • AS3810TZG

    Users should contact the Acer to determine if their computer is included in the recall.

Sony AC Power Adapter Recalled Due to Electrical Shock

    In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, Sony has announced the voluntary recall of certain AC power adapters due to reports electrical shock.

    The recall only applies to AC power adapters model VGP-AC19V17 that were supplied with the certain VAIO computers and docking stations:

    The recalled batteries were sold in certain models. Not all laptops in that series are affected; users should contact the laptop manufacturer to determine if their laptop battery is included in the recall.

    In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, HP, Toshiba and Dell have announced the voluntary recall of certain laptop batteries due to reports of fire and burn hazards. The voluntary replacement program only applies to certain models and battery serial numbers.

Sony VAIO TZ-series Laptop Recall

    Sony, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, announced the voluntary recall of certain Sony VAIO TZ-series laptops due to reports of overheating and were sold from July 2007 through August 2008.

    The recalled notebook models are the VAIO VGN-TZ100 series, VGN-TZ200 series, VGN-TZ300 series and VGN-TZ2000 series. The computers’ screen size is about 11.1” measured diagonally. Not all laptops in that series are affected; users should contact Sony to determine if their laptop is included in the recall.

Toshiba Laptop Battery Recall

    Toshiba, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, announced the voluntary recall of certain battery packs due to reports of overheating. Toshiba will offer customers free-of-charge replacements for all recalled battery packs.

    Toshiba sold the battery packs with new notebook computers or as optional or replacement battery packs from January 2006 through April 2006 in certain Portege, Qosmio, Satellite and Tecra series laptops.

Gateway Laptop Battery Recall

    Gateway, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, announced the voluntary recall of certain battery packs due to reports of overheating. Gateway will offer customers free-of-charge replacements for all recalled battery packs.

    Gateway sold the battery packs with new notebook computers or as optional or replacement battery packs from May 2003 through August 2003 with 400VTX and 450ROG series laptops.

    The faulty batteries are identified by part numbers 6500760 or 6500761 and say “made by SMP” on a label pasted on the underside of the battery pack.

Acer Laptop Battery Recall

    Acer, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, announced the voluntary recall of certain lithium-ion battery packs. Acer will offer customers free-of-charge replacements for all recalled battery packs.

    Acer has confirmed that none of their laptops with the effected batteries have been reported to overheat.

    Acer sold the battery packs with new notebook computers or as optional or replacement battery packs from May 2004 through November 2006 with TravelMate and Aspire models listed below:

    • TravelMate Series Beginning with: 242x, 320x, 321x, 330x, 422x, 467x, 561x, C20x
    • AspireTM Series Beginning with:556x, 560x, 567x, 930x, 941x, 980x

Lenovo (IBM) Extended-Life Battery Recall

    Lenovo, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, announced the voluntary recall of approximately 205,000 extended-life, 9-cell battery packs., Lenovo will offer customers free-of-charge replacements for all recalled battery packs.

    Lenovo has confirmed that notebook computers containing the recalled battery packs may overheat, posing a potential safety hazard to users if the battery pack experiences a strong external impact

    Lenovo sold the battery packs with new notebook computers or as optional or replacement battery packs on the ThinkPad models listed below.

    • R60 and R60e Series
    • T60 and T60p Series
    • Z60m, Z61e, Z61m, and Z61p Series
    These models may have shipped with either regular or extended-life, 9-cell battery packs; only some of the larger, extended-life; 9-cell battery packs with the part number FRU P/N 92P1131 are being recalled.

Sony Battery Recall

    Sony initiated a global replacement program for certain lithium-ion notebook computer battery packs manufactured by the company to address the concerns of customers over the recent over-heating incidents in certain notebooks manufactured by companies other than Sony. The voluntary replacement program only applies to certain models and serial numbers of the VAIO battery packs. Users who also have purchased extra battery packs or who have replaced their original battery packs, may be covered by this program. If you are eligible, a free battery will be provided to you.

    The laptop models are VAIO series laptops.

Fujitsu Battery Recall

    Fujitsu, in response to Sony's announcement, have decided to cooperate with Sony's voluntary battery replacement program. Fujitsu will offer voluntary replacement of the Sony-made battery packs in the Fujitsu notebook PC models listed below.

Lenovo Battery Recall

    Lenovo and IBM Corporation, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and other regulatory agencies, have announced the voluntary recall of certain lithium-ion batteries manufactured by Sony Corporation. In the interest of public safety, Lenovo will offer customers free-of-charge replacement batteries for all recalled batteries.

    IBM and Lenovo sold these Sony batteries in systems listed below between February 2005 and September 2006. Customers who bought one of the following systems may have a battery subject to this recall:

    • ThinkPad R Series (R51e, R52, R60, R60e)
    • ThinkPad T Series (T43, T43p, T60)
    • ThinkPad X Series (X60, X60s)

Toshiba Battery Recall

    Toshiba has identified a problem with some of the batteries in Toshiba portable computers manufactured between March and May of 2006. The affected batteries simply stop working, i.e. they stop accepting a charge, and they no longer supply power to the computer. They do not overheat, or pose any safety related issue or concern.

    The affected batteries were sold with several Toshiba portable computer models, and were also sold as accessories. The problem has been fixed by the third-party battery vendor, and batteries manufactured since June 1, 2006 are not affected by this problem

Dell Battery Recall

    Dell has identified a potential issue associated with certain batteries sold with Dell Latitude™, Inspiron™, XPS™ and Dell Precision Mobile Workstation™ notebook computers. In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and other regulatory agencies, Dell is voluntarily recalling certain Dell-branded batteries with cells manufactured by Sony and offering free replacements for these batteries. Under rare conditions, it is possible for these batteries to overheat, which could pose a risk of fire.

    Potentially affected batteries were sold with the following models of Dell notebook computers or separately as secondary batteries:

    • Latitude: D410, D500, D505, D510, D520, D600, D610, D620, D800, D810
    • Inspiron: 500M, 510M, 600M, 700M, 710M, 6000, 6400, 8500, 8600, 9100, 9200, 9300, 9400, E1505, E1705
    • Precision: M20, M60, M70, M90
    • XPS: XPS, XPS Gen2, XPS M170, XPS M1710

Dell AC Adapter Recall

    In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, Dell is voluntarily providing the Customers who purchased certain AC Adapters that were sold for use with some models of Dell LatitudeTM , Dell PrecisionTM and Dell InspironTM notebook computers (Part Numbers 9364U, 7832D and 4983D) with a free replacement AC adapter.

    In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, Dell is voluntarily recalling and offering free replacements for certain notebook batteries that were sold for use with some models of Dell Latitude TM, Dell Precision TM and Dell Inspiron TM notebook computers. It is possible for these batteries to overheat, which could pose a risk of fire.

HP Mobile Battery Replacement Program

    In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, on April 20, 2006. HP announced a worldwide voluntary recall and replacement program for batteries used in certain HP Notebook PCs. HP customers affected by this program will be eligible to receive a replacement battery for each verified, affected, recalled battery at no cost.
