What is your RUNet Password?

Your RUNet password is a “master password” that lets you log in to following accounts and services:

How to change your RUNet Password

To change your RUNet password, you must use the university’s on-line password management system (see instructions below). Your password must meet the university's secure password requirements (read Requirements for Creating RU Passwords).

The Password Management system is only available on the campus network, via VPN, or on Secure Wireless. Please contact the Help Desk at 212-327-8940 for assistance if you are off campus and cannot connect to the new page. Users may not reuse previous passwords.

  • Before changing your password, log out and close your e-mail, Oracle Calendar, VPN and other applications.
  • Go to the Password Management site.
  • Log in using your currrent e-mail username and password. Click Login
  • Click the Change Password link.
  • Enter the new password you wish to use in the New Password text box.
  • Confirm your new password by entering it again in the Confirm Password text box.
  • Click Save
  • Note: Once the password has been changed, wait 15 minutes and then restart your computer

Please note that you may need to wait up to 15 minutes after changing your password before attempting to use the new password.

If you have forgotten your password or need assistance, come to the Help Desk in WH room 101 with your Rockefeller University ID card.

Answers to Authentication Questions

Users may create answers to security questions that can be used in the event you forget your password. This will allow you to reset your own password without having to come to the IT Help Desk in person. By default, this is not enabled. Users will need to log into the Password Management site and click Change Answers to Authentication Questions.

Requirements for Authentication Answers

  • Must be at least 4 characters long
  • Cannot contain any non-English characters
  • Cannot contain your username, first, or last name


Windows Domain - ROCKEFELLERNT

Users who log into the Windows Domain, ROCKEFELLERNT, need to use your RUNet username and password. Users who log into their local computer, need to use the same computer password as before. If you are unsure if you log into the domain or not, see below:

    If your computer logs into the domian, the ROCKEFELLERNT name will be listed as the Log on to: computer.

If ROCKEFELLERNT is not listed as the computer to log into, you are not logging into the Windows Domain.


How to change your Oracle Calendar off-line agenda Password

To change the password for your Oracle Calendar off-line agenda only.

If you have the Oracle Calendar off-line agenda feature active, you may be prompted to enter a second password for your off-line agenda. Your off-line password is your old Oracle Calendar password prior to changing your RUNet password. To change your off-line password manually, do the following:

  • Before changing your password, make sure you have logged out and closed your e-mail, Oracle Calendar, VPN and other applications
  • Click File > Work Off-line.
  • Click Tools > Change Password.
  • Enter your old Oracle Calendar password in the Old Password field.
  • Enter your new RUNet password in the New Password field and click OK.
  • Reenter the new password in the Verify Password dialogue box.
  • Click OK.
  • Click File > Work On-line to go back to the on-line agenda.
  • A dialog box may appear, notifying you that your off-line and on-line passwords are different. Choose Replace off-line password with on-line password to reconcile your passwords.
