To protect your computer against viruses it is important to keep up with the latest virus definitions and upgrade your virus protection software. Symantec Anti-Virus is available free to the campus from the Information Technology Web site.
To run LiveUpdate:

To Download Definition Updates:
Once you've downloaded the file, simply double-click it to update your virus definitions.
If Symentec Antivirus detects a virus that it cannot clean or quarantine, contact the Help Desk immediately at x8940.
LiveUpdate is a program which connects to Symantec's FTP servers, downloads the latest definitions, and applies the definitions to the computer on which it is running.
Note: Users who have installed Endpoint Protection, do not have to run the LiveUpdate as it will perform the update automatically.
The Virus Definition Update Installer is an executable file that you may use to update virus definitions. If you are updating Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition for Windows 95/98 or Windows NT, you can simply run the Virus Definition Update Installer to update the virus definitions on your local computer.
The default installation of Norton AntiVirus does not check for new virus definitions daily. To modify this setting, visit IT's web site.
